When the INAS Global Games was awarded to Brisbane there was an urgent need for an office home base. Brisbane 2019INAS Global Games CEO, Robyn Smith met with JLL Managing Director Geoff McIntyre and immediately the Games found a supportive partner.

Bart Mead, a JLL Director, says at the time the company were delighted to provide space in the Milton office between the Brisbane River and the iconic Suncorp Stadium.

We in the office knew very little of the INAS Global Games before Robyn came into our offices to do a presentation, which included an inspiring video. Once we watched the athletes we were hooked and JLL is now a very enthusiastic Games partner,” says Bart.

And as the Games team is growing I see we are embracing the essence of inclusivity and community contribution that the relationship embodies,” he adds.

In a business sense, Bart recognises the value of the international connections and hopes that the JLL and Games partnership will leave a positive global legacy, but it is in creating a community conscious of intellectual disability within the company that will have a far-reaching effect.”

That legacy is already evident with several of the staff so committed they have quickly signed up as Games volunteers. JLL’s Head of Integrated Property Advisory, Craig Ashford was so impressed he has convinced his wife Leanne and teenage children, Emily and Harry to volunteer in October. We are really looking forward to the athletics, swimming and cycling but are very happy to help wherever we are needed.”

As a family we have a social conscience and my wife and I encourage the kids to be mindful of giving back to our community. When I saw the Games presentation at work I was excited about the sport that will be on show, but it was also an opportunity to be a part of something both exciting and worthy,” says Craig.

Not only have the Brisbane Global Games found a wonderful sponsor in JLL, but they have forged a community partnership that will leave a profound legacy within the staff of JLL.
