About the Global Games

The INAS Global Games is a world-class sporting competition that represents the peak of sporting achievement. Held once every four years, the Global Games sees competitors from over 75 countries going for gold and vying for the honour of being recognised as the best in their field.

Over seven intensive days of competition, athletes, officials, volunteers and spectators alike will revel in the spectacle of world-class and friendly rivalry, whilst simultaneously enjoying the welcoming inclusive spirit of the Games.

The INAS Global Games is a celebration of cultural diversity and allows athletes to compete in a secure, fun and friendly environment. The Games also work to promote INAS’s goals of changing attitudes, challenging perceptions, creating opportunities, developing pathways and strengthening communities.

FAQs about the games


INAS is the recognised International Sport Organisation for athletes with an intellectual impairment and full member of the International Paralympic Committee.

More than 75 countries, INAS currently has over 300,000 athletes registered across the world. Established in 1986, INAS works with its member nations and partners to change attitudes, create opportunities and develop inclusive pathways in sport to ensure that athletes can compete at the highest possible level

It manages an annual program of more than 15 Regional and World Championship competitions and works closely with the International Federations for sport.

INAS is also responsible for managing regional and world records, athlete rankings and athlete eligibility.

Global Games Sports Company

The Global Games Sports Company was established by Sport Inclusion Australia in February 2016 as a separate constituted entity to conduct the INAS Global Games – Brisbane 2019.

The Global Games Sports Company will fulfil the role of the Local Organising Committee aligned with the identified objectives.

Attract elite athletes to compete in a world class competitive, friendly and safe INAS Global Games;

Partner with the Sporting bodies to deliver to international standards across the nine INAS sports;

Build awareness of the immense ability of the athletes competing and promote accordingly;

Educate the wider community about the benefits of inclusion;

Contribute to economic growth by promoting tourism;

Create inspiration and hope for people with an intellectual impairment.

Sport Inclusion Australia

Sport Inclusion Australia is the recognised national sporting organisation for athletes with an intellectual impairment, the INAS Member nation and a founding member of the Australian Paralympic Committee.

Sport Inclusion Australia liaises and builds the capacity of State, National and International organisations to include participants with an intellectual impairment in programs within their structure with the focus on ability, choice and based on social inclusion principles.

Established in 1986, Sport Inclusion Australia has today in excess of 3000 athletes. These athletes are located in over 1600 local communities across all states and territories of Australia.

Sport Inclusion Australia is responsible for managing the eligibility process for athletes wishing to compete at regional, state, national and international levels of competition within the intellectual impairment classification.
